{"id":823,"date":"2007-02-05T19:23:08","date_gmt":"2007-02-06T02:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/faganm.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/05\/823\/"},"modified":"2007-09-15T11:10:15","modified_gmt":"2007-09-15T18:10:15","slug":"google-webmaster-tools-webmaster-tools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faganm.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/05\/823\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Webmaster Tools &#8211; Webmaster Tools"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/webmasters\/tools\/siteoverview\">Google Webmaster Tools &#8211; Webmaster Tools<\/a> &#8211; this will now show you <strong>all<\/strong> links that Google knows of to your own pages.<\/p>\n<p>Some things I noticed<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>there is a <strong>lot<\/strong> of spam, especially search result pages and wikipedia clones<\/li>\n<li>Google&#8217;s indexing multiple versions of wiki pages on pbwiki.com<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So I was looking at the stats for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faganfinder.com\/\">Fagan Finder<\/a>; it&#8217;s always nice to see new data, and I&#8217;ve never been very good at keeping track of it all myself. According to Google, <strong>64%<\/strong> of the links are to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faganfinder.com\/translate\/\">Translation Wizard<\/a>. In second place is my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faganfinder.com\/search\/rss.shtml\">article on RSS<\/a> at 13%, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faganfinder.com\/urlinfo\/\">URLinfo<\/a> at 8%. 98% of links to the Translation Wizard are websites using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faganfinder.com\/translate\/this_page.php\">translate this page<\/a> feature. I had to play with the data in Excel to arrive at this.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly there&#8217;s a power law going on here. And this is yet another confirmation that the Translation Wizard was a huge winner, and since it is largely broken now, seriously needs an update. I just do not have the time.
