Chechen Terrorists to be Buried in Pigskin - could Russian security forces think of a worse idea than that? Via Blogdex.

Well I’ve been working on this blog a fair bit today and yesterday. Still a lot of work to do. At least now it validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2 (if you don’t know, don’t bother asking), and the option to choose which posts you want to view works almost perfectly. Plus, it works just as well and looks okay in Netscape 4.7x.

The student who shot and killed three professors at the University of Arizona and then commited suicide several days ago, wrote a letter that he sent to newspapers before commiting his act. Read the whole thing - it is certainly a very different perspective, and it drew my sympathy.

Wow: the Canadian government cautioned citizens to avoid going to the US if they are from one of the countries where many terrorists have come from. This seems to be at least partly a response to the Syrian-Canadian who was arrested and deported to Syria, without even telling his family about it, last month.
Update (Oct 31 10:04 PM): just heard on the radio that the US agreed to treat Canadian citizens equally, but who knows what that really means

One of the Chechen’s hostages used his cellphone to give information to a friend who posted it on LiveJournal. The article also mentions that 6,000 of LiveJournal’s 700,000 users are Russian.

I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but this AlterNet article suggesting that Senator Wellstone and others were murdered is interesting...
It seems that others have the same idea, see this op-ed by Ted Rall.
