Google Base = Bad

I was thinking of a really long rant, but instead I’ll make a short comment.

Google Base leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth, in more ways than one. You?

    What Mattt is saying should translate to indifference, and I’d agree with that. But … “a bad taste” ? A rant from you would be more than welcome, monsiour. That’s what we’re all here for, after all!

    I think it’ll have much more impact when they release an API… lots of possibilities including a head-to-head with Craiglist.

    Yes, if they make it open on the read side, not just the write side, that will very much change my opinion.

    I agree, and I also agree that if they change the accessibility of the data, it would not be as bad, but this data needs to live abroad, not on Google.

    my problem is that a lot of it i see as both good *and* bad

    ie their massive xml vocabulary: it’s pretty crappy, doesn’t really make any use of prior art at all…. but if people actually use it because google is google… then it’s still better than before
